"Nocturne No. 2" is a pattern-based, groovy-meditative solo for A-Marimba. The piece uses the polyrhythmic pattern 3 over 4 almost throughout and thus resembles pieces by Philip Glass and other representatives of Minimal Music. "Tracery" moves more harmoniously today and imitates rich synthesizer sounds from current film music. The branching, growing chord progression reminds me of the finely crafted tracery of Gothic churches or the colorful line mesh on the wings of a butterfly. Our lives too often resemble complicated and interwoven lines of different thickness, direction and color.

Nocturnes are pieces traditionally associated with night themes.
