Cassio Duarte, renowned and respected percussionsit, presents Introduction to Brazilian Percussion on DVD. On this DVD, Duarte discusses over a dozen Brazilian percussion instruments and teaches you how to play 3 traditional Brazilian rhythms. After teaching all of the individual parts, he puts it all together to create an authentic Samba School style song. Instruments covered include: Pandeiro, Tamborim, Surdo, Timbal, Repinique, and many others.

Cassio Duarte grew up in Brazil, playing in community Samba Schools. He then attended the Villa Lobos School of Music in Rio de Janeiro. As a performer he has worked with countless stars in Brazil and in Los Angeles. As an educator, Cassio Duarte has worked at Sangeet School of World Music, Los Angeles Music Academy, and the UCLA Department of Ethno-musicology. ( - from the DVD rear cover )
