Continually in print since 1942, Buddy Rich's Modern Interpretation of Snare Drum Rudiments was written by Rich with his longtime collaborator Henry Adler. The original publication was edited to leave out a number of exercises - those exercises have been transcribed by another Adler student, Ted MacKenzie, and appear in this edition for the first time anywhere! In addition, all exercises have been newly typeset for easy reading, and the photos throughout the book have been cleaned up. 83 lessons are now included, divided into two major sections: Non-Bounce Exercises (for the beginner and intermediate player) and Bounce Exercises (for the advanced player.) Exercises are fully notated with hand designations and counting tips. Along with the exercises, this book includes tips on selecting drumsticks, using practice pads, gripping sticks and wrist movements (with diagrams,) and an eight-page section on the fundamentals of reading music.
