IN SPACE is a piece for marimba and playback tape that combines modern spherical sounds and electronic beats with the classic mallet instrument. At the beginning there is a short cadence, which turns into a hip-hop-like beat and thus initiates a long build-up to the main part. This main part contains some electronic elements and is reminiscent of a driving drum n bass beat. IN SPACE should be a change for the lesson and motivating to show how versatile a classic mallet instrument can be used.
