ABOUT THE COMPOSER Guillaume Le Picard (b. 1986) studied percussion at the
Conservatoire National de Région de Paris with Frédéric Macarez, where
he unanimously received First Prize in Percussion in 2006, as well as
the diploma “Département Supérieur Formation Orchestre” in 2009. He has
performed in the groups “Argillos Percussion,” “Paris Percu” (appeared
in the Seoul Drum Festival), “Badaboum Quartet,” and various orchestras,
including the “Orchestre de Picardie” in France. In 2009, he presented a
recital of his own compositions at the University of Seoul.
Other achievements include:
- First prize in the FNAPEC contest in Paris with “Argillos Percussion” (2009)
- First prize in the PAS Percussion Ensemble International Contest (2009)
- Finalist in the classic music’s young talent’s contest in Paris (2009)
- Third prize in the PAS International Composition Contest with Abaca for solo marimba (2007)
- First prize in the Percussive Arts Society International Timpani Competition (2006)
- Second prize in the International Timpani Competition, Italy (2006)
- Second prize in the International Marimba Competition, Italy (2006)
- Second prize in the International Timpani Competition, Paris (2005)
