Composed between 1907 and 1908, the famous rhapsody represents one of Ravel´s first major works for orchestra. The first version of this piece was written for two piano 4-hands, - and quickly followed by a transcription for orchestra.
The premiere of the Rapsodie was on march 5, 1908 by the Orchestra des Concerts Colonne.
It comprises four parts (movements) and last around 15 minutes:

  1. Prélude a la nuit
  2. Malaguene
  3. Habanera
  4. Feria.
