Crossfire 1 bursts into life from bar 9, and doesn’t relent in pace at any point after that. Scored for 3 snare drums and 3 floor tom toms, the music exhibits piercing ricochet notes across the ensemble, and then moves into an exciting choreographed section that sees the performers marching from drum to drum whilst clicking their sticks together, and finally material from earlier in the work is retrieved so that the piece can finish with a big flourish on the tam tam.
Created from just crotchets, quavers and semiquavers, ‘Crossfire 1’ is very easy to learn and rehearse for players of Grades 2/3 standard and is a very exciting percussion ensemble showcase concert piece.
